“I just don’t know how to have this conversation.” If you’ve ever had this thought, this workshop is for you. Difficult conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion range from conceptual to conflict resolution. This 90-minute workshop offers participants the opportunity to learn what’s important to consider when having difficult DEI conversations and offers concrete tools to build dialogue and disarm harmful conversations in favor of healing ones.

Facilitator: Sophia Antoun (she/her/hers) is the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Education Specialist at The Ohio State University's Office of Academic Affairs Inclusive Excellence Office. Sophia completed her graduate degree in International Education Development at Columbia University and her undergraduate degree in Chinese and Arabic at The Ohio State University. Working as an educator for more than 11 years, Sophia has taught both domestically and internationally to youth and adults of diverse backgrounds and identities. Her expertise lies in building the interpersonal and intrapersonal skills necessary to impactful diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work, as well as educating on Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) history. She is passionate about the racial empowerment of APIDA identities, building solidarity between minoritized communities and guiding our understandings of diversity, equity and inclusion towards justice.
