About this event

Join Kate Shannon, Ohio State University’s 2025–26 Artist Laureate, as she discusses her creative work with the Rinhart Collection of 19th-century photographs at Ohio State University’s Rare Books and Manuscripts Library. She will introduce approaches to working with historical photographs and share ideas for how photographic archives can be used for teaching, research, and creative work. Participants will also have the opportunity to view selections from Ohio State Lima’s photographic archive documenting the early years of the campus and to discuss ways these photographs might be used in their own projects.

Violet I. Meek Student Leadership Award Nominations open February 1- February 28, 2026.
The Violet I. Meek Student Leadership Award is an annual award to the Ohio State Lima student who has demonstrated positive leadership and a vision for the future of the student body while enrolled as an Ohio State Lima Student.

An official nomination form may be obtained through the Student Engagement Office in Galvin 014 or by clicking this link to download a form at https://go.osu.edu/vim26


Nomination forms, including resumes and letters of support, must be received by Feb. 28.
Criteria for the Violet I. Meek Student Leadership Award:
• Possesses a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher
• An undergraduate in good standing with the University
• Currently enrolled at the University and have attended Ohio State Lima for a minimum of two (2) semesters
• Established a demonstrated record of service in leadership and membership roles in campus organizations and activities
• Displays a strong sense of personal pride and spirit for Ohio State Lima and has significantly impacted the development of co-curricular life at Ohio State Lima.

About this event

Get your friends or student organizations ready to belt out some tunes with a campus favorite. John Rush is the "Human Spotify." Why? Because he has more than 85 hours of music in his head. You can see 42 different two-hour shows and never hear a song twice. He has two giant request books, anything from current songs to favorite songs you grew up with. Students pick songs they want to hear and write them on little post-it notes, then stick them all over the stage. This lets the audience get involved and show off their talent.

Taste of OSU 2026

The Office of International Affairs hosts the Taste of OSU, an evening of cultural performances on stage, exhibits and food from around the world provided by more than 40 different international clubs on campus. Non-Ohio State guests are welcome to attend. Charter bus transportation will be available for students, faculty, staff and any friends/family members are welcome to join as well. The bus leaves Ohio State Lima at approximately 3:30 p.m. and returns at approximately 9:30 p.m. RSVP is required by noon, Monday, February 9.
