Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, stars Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winning powerhouse Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Broadway’s The Color Purple) as Elphaba, a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and global superstar Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart.

The Ohio State University at Lima, the Lima City Schools and the City of Lima welcome Dr. Christopher Winslow, Director of Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Laboratory at The Ohio State University to campus Tuesday, January 28, for the 2025 Fowler Science Series. Dr. Winslow will present the keynote address "The state of Lake Erie: Nutrients and Harmful Algal Blooms from 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the Martha W. Farmer Theatre for the Performing Arts at Ohio State Lima.

The William Fowler Science Series is a cross-disciplinary program for the community and local middle and high school students. The Lima City Schools, in collaboration with outstanding Ohio State faculty and leaders, focus a portion of their fall semester's science curriculum on the science series' topic of the year.

This year, 40 students from South Science and Technology Magnet and 50 from Lima Senior High School will visit science labs on campus for hands-on activities. They will also get to learn more about being a college student from current Ohio State Lima students

Movement & Memory in the Farmer Family Gallery

About this event

Interdisciplinary fine artist Jameel Amman will be at the Farmer Family Gallery from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2025, to open his new show Movement & Memory, an exhibition dedicated to the work of Sankofa. The works on display are a series of figurative drawings and digital paintings, collages and immersive experiences, intended to conjure African ancestral memory. Sankofa is a term that communicates the cyclical nature of time, relating one’s existence to the past, present and future. In keeping with this tradition, these works conjure the past into the present and future, and vice versa.

The opening and exhibition are free and open to the public. Movement & Memory will be in the Farmer Family Gallery from January 23-March 6. The gallery is located in Reed Hall. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Thursday, with further visitation by appointment. Contact breidenbach.44@osu.edu.

The Violet I. Meek Student Leadership Award is an annual award to the Ohio State Lima student who has demonstrated positive leadership and a vision for the future of the student body while enrolled as an Ohio State Lima Student.

An official nomination form may be obtained through the Student Engagement Office in Galvin 014 or by clicking this link to download a form at Go.osu.edu/VIM25
Nomination forms, including resumes and letters of support, must be received by Feb. 28.


Criteria for the Violet I. Meek Student Leadership Award:

  • Possesses a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • An undergraduate in good standing with the University
  • Currently enrolled at the University and have attended Ohio State Lima for a minimum of two (2) semesters
  • Established a demonstrated record of service in leadership and membership roles in campus organizations and activities
  • Displays a strong sense of personal pride and spirit for Ohio State Lima and has significantly impacted the development of co-curricular life at Ohio State Lima.
